Paul P. Vollmar | Paul Phillip Vollmar was born about 1923 to Charles E. and Verna Spanninger Vollmar of Philadelphia. Paul entered the US Navy for WWII, serving as a Corsair pilot in the Pacific. Air Group 2 of the Essex Class USS Shangri La (CV-38) nicknamed the "Tokyo Express". He married Doris Mary Moloney in 1946. They appear to have settled at 409 Burlington Avenue in Delanco where they lived for 30 years. Paul was a mechanic by trade and after the war was a partner in the firm of VAMCO with brothers-in-law Frank Applegate and Richard Moloney. They operated out of the machine shop on the alley behind the Moloney house. He later worked for Silex and Woodstream. Paul was a member of the Delanco Recreation Commission when it was founded in 1965. He served on Delanco Township Committee and served as Mayor of Delanco in 1969. Paul was a proud and active Rotarian and the family was active at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for many years. The family moved to Lititz in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
